According to the Singapore Department of Statistics, the design workforce was estimated at 68,900 in 2021, and is expected to grow to 86,000 by 2030 – an overall increase of 25%. Notably, over two-thirds of Singapore’s designers work in non-design industries, a signal that design capabilities are deeply integrated into broader sectors such as finance, logistics, tourism, and urban development. This “horizontal” integration demonstrates the growing importance of design as a strategic business function, not just an aesthetic or branding exercise.
